Attaching a wood board to an ITS4DOGS Metal Teeter Base Materials needed: Steps: 1 Lay wood on a large flat surface such as Driveway or Garage floor, with the side you wish to be the top surface of the teeter facing down. 2 Place a small fulcrum under the center of the board by splitting the length wise measurement (~ 6' from one end). 3 Move the fulcrum 1" toward either end of the board. 4 Place the Metal Teeter Board Attachment over the fulcrum point with the screw attachment bars approximately parallel to the length of the board. 5 Center the Tubular round steel piece over the fulcrum point 90 degrees (perpendicular) to the sides of the board. There should be a small equal overlap of the tube on either side of the Board. 6 Tack the Metal Board Attachment to the teeter board with the small wood screws. (This is done with small screws since the attachment might have to be moved after performing the Drop Speed Test later) 7 Connect the teeter base and chain to the Metal Board Attachment and slowly lift and turn the complete assembly over. 8 Adjust the length of the chain for a height of approximately 24" from the ground to the top of the board at the fulcrum point. 9 Perform a teeter "DROP SPEED" test as follows: A. Place a 3 pound weight 1 foot from the end of the raised side of the teeter board B. Time and record how long it takes from the time the weight is placed on the board until the board contacts the ground. C. Repeat B at least 3 times and get an average "Drop Speed" for several tries. D. When correctly adjusted a Trial Teeter should contact the ground in less than 3 seconds. E. The position of the fulcrum determines the "drop speed". 10 Move the Metal Board Attachment in small increments (~ 1/4") toward one end or the other of the teeter board maintaining orientation to increase or decrease the desired Drop Speed. NOTE.......Some people like to adjust the teeter for faster or slower operation. Just remember to change it to meet specs if the teeter will be used in a trial. 11 Attach the teeter board attachment to the board with 4 Large Lag Screws that do not penetrate through the board. 12 Repeat the Drop Speed Test. 13 Remove the Metal Board Attachment from the teeter board and base. Paint to desired color and specifications by following these suggested Teeter Board Painting Directions. 14 Reinstall the Metal Board Attachment and repeat the "Drop Speed" test. 15 Train your dog with your new teeter or use it in a Trial. Enjoy this quality piece of equipment for years to come. NOTE: One problem has been noted by owners of this model.....They no longer have an excuse for poor teeter execution! :-) 11/13/2007 |
